Funny Movies

One of the most popular selections at the local video store is the comedy genre or Funny Movies. Comedies offer a way to escape the trials and tribulations of every day life. Funny Movies allow us to laugh at our world. From the slapstick comedy of earlier years, to the gross out comedies of today, Funny Movies have kept up us in stitches for decades.

When it comes to Funny Movies there have been some classic performances, from Richard Pryor in "The Toy," to Bill Murray in "Caddyshack," to Steve Martin in "The Jerk." If you want to look further back to the roots of comedy, you'll investigate the slapstick styling of the Marx Brothers, the Three Stooges, and Laurel and Hardy.

Funny Movies for the Young, and the Young at Heart: There's are Funny Movies for every taste. In recent times we've seen the development of gross-out movies like "There's Something About Mary," and "American Pie." They were huge hits, especially with teenage audiences who relate to best to their content. People like Johnny Knoxville and Tom Green have become popular pranksters among the teenage set.

One of the most popular choices among Funny Movies is the romantic comedy. These are good movies to rent for every occasion from a first date to a slumber party, to a night at home trying to get over the blues. There is something uplifting about watching people in the awkward search for true love. People rent movies to escape reality, and relieve the tension of everyday life. Nothing does both these things quite like a good laugh.

Let’s see some latest release of Funny Movies in romantic comedy category.

"The Stepford Wives" (June 11)

The Story: In this high-tech, politically correct retelling of Ira Levin's best-selling novel (and the 1975 movie), former TV mogul Joanna (Nicole Kidman) discovers something wicked in the seemingly idyllic town of Stepford, a place with "no crime, no poverty, and no pushing." The most suspicious behavior: The town's perfect housewives, all once powerful career women, have sex in the middle of the day -- with their husbands! Hmmmm, could they be, oh, we don't know, robots?

"Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story" (June 18)

The Story: Like to watch guys get hit in the crotch with big rubber balls? Still suffer post-traumatic stress over this junior high game of "violence, exclusion and degradation"? Then here's the movie for you. A small-time gym must fend off a takeover by a corrupt fitness chain by winning a dodgeball tournament.

"New York Minute" (May 7)

The Story: This modern riff on "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" stars Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen as -- big stretch -- twin sisters Roxy and Jane Ryan. The twist? Roxy is a rebellious rock 'n' roll wannabe, Jane a straight-A goody two-shoes. Over the course of one very long Manhattan day, the clashing cuties bond, learn, grow, and meet boys, all while being pursued by Principal Rooney, er, truant officer Max Lomax (Eugene Levy).

Some more Funny Movies in romantic comedy category are given below:

"Breakin' All the Rules" (May 7)

After Quincy Watson (Jamie Foxx) gets drop-kicked by his fiancee, he pens a best-selling book on break-up survival. Sure, this romantic comedy of errors has had three title changes and several different release dates, but it's also got a drunken pug. So how bad could it be? Don't answer that.

"Super Size Me" (May 7)

In this buzz-heavy fast-food documentary, Morgan Spurlock sacrifices his cholesterol level for the sake of art as he eats at McDonald's three times a day for a month. The results are not pretty. A must-see for anyone contemplating a trip to the drive-through.

"Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle" (July 30)

Dude, where are my all-beef patties? Hapless pals John Cho ("American Pie") and Kal Penn ("Malibu's Most Wanted") embark on a munchie-inspired road trip to satisfy their craving for the titular burgers. What results is a life-changing odyssey that includes face time with Doogie Howser, M.D. himself, Neil Patrick Harris.
