I Love Movies
I Love Movies of Spider Man: Stars Toby Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, Willem Dafoe, James Franco, Rosemary Harris, and Cliff Robertson. Wait to see this on video, or go to the cinema if you have a youngster who must see it. Overall, this is a disappointing movie - despite the buckets of cash it has been making at the box office. Perhaps it was the lack of competition in the first couple of weeks.
But, still I Love Movies of spider man because the story is fine and the special effects are generally quite good - although Spider-Man's costume should not hang toward the wall in the scenes he is supposedly climbing them... Where this movie fails to satisfy is in the two lead actors. Much of plot hinges on the romance between Peter Parker (Spider-Man) and Mary Jane Watson. Although Toby Maguire and Kirsten Dunst have some very good scenes, they fail to engage at times that should have made the movie gel. James Franco is simply annoying as Peter's best friend - in fact, he makes it unbelievable. Willem Dafoe, however, is a bright spot in the movie, as the evil nemesis.
I Love Movies, wherever I can find some fun. The Sweetest Thing is my favorite movie. Stars Cameron Diaz, Christina Applegate, Selma Blair, and Thomas Jane. This is a really fun movie, not the least because it heralds the start of the new spring and summer romance movie season. This may at times be a rude and crude movie but it is made from a woman's perspective for a change - and it flies, as really refreshing change from the normal.
I Love Movies of Diaz and Applegate manage to create a believable buddy movie atmosphere as they set out to catch and release guys on their nights out on the town. Christina (Diaz) has her world knocked for a loop when she meets Peter (well played by Thomas Jane) in a bar - actually she tried to set him up with her roommate Jane (Blair) and the plan sort of backfires. Christina just can't get Peter out of her mind, which sets her best friend Courtney (Applegate) hatching a plot to reunite Christina and Peter. Overall, The Sweetest Thing is worth seeing but it's not destined to be another There's Something About Mary..
I Love Movies, action packed because action is my number 1 all-time favorite; in fact, I Love Movies soooo much that I own over 500 at the present time. I love Movies (action, horror, comedy) music (80's, rock, metal, very little rap) love football, most sports are ok, video games, outdoors. I Love Movies, action, sci-fi, drama whatever, but I really like futuristic or post apocalyptic type movies. |

AMC Monsterfest collections were made available in October last year; AMC TV for Movie People collections is currently in development. They will include classic television programming from Abbott & Costello, Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis, The Lone Ranger, The Red Skelton Show, Dragnet and The Lucy Show. AMC Movies for Movie People were expected to be available in retail chains in February 2004. some of them are available nowadays, so better to check out now.
Through its multi-year licensing agreement with AMC, Genius Products GNPI and Falcon Picture Group have released their second collection of DVD movies. The AMC Movies collection includes six DVD sets featuring actors Cary Grant, James Cagney, Vivian Leigh, Edmond O'Brien and Gary Cooper and one set devoted to Hollywood's best detective movies. Each collection features four films on two DVD's and has a suggested retail price of $9.99 each. AMC Movies are currently available in major retail chains.
AMC Movies, a division of Rainbow Media's Entertainment Services, which also includes WE: Women's Entertainment and IFC Companies, is a 24-hour, movie-based network, dedicated to the American movie fan. The network, which reaches over 85,000,000 homes, offers a comprehensive library of popular movies and a critically-acclaimed slate of original programming that is a diverse, movie-based mix of original series, documentaries and specials. Over the past three years AMC Movies has garnered many of the industry's highest honors, including eight Emmy awards. AMC is "TV for movie people."
Another AMC Movies Project: This monthly series delivers unexpected, thought-provoking viewpoints on various aspects of life in Hollywood through the lenses of some of America’s most respected filmmakers. The shows range from half-hour specials to two hour explorations.
It's okay to feel nostalgic over the "old" AMC; after all, for many years they were the only game in town and many of us saw numerous films for the first time on that channel. We actually remember back in 1983 before they were called AMC. The channel was called movie time and showed the same two movies twice in a single evening, then signed off!
Once AMC Movies came on the air there was no question that AMC was the lesser channel of the two. The majority of the films they showed over the years were from RKO and FOX and even then, their choices were limited. They repeated the same movies endlessly. Bob Dorian, while probably a very nice man, often had trouble reading the cue cards and never seemed all that knowledgeable when he tried to wing it without them. I'm sorry, wear rose colored glasses if you wish, and bemoan AMC's current sorry state, but never think they were in any way, shape or form as good or better a channel than TCM.
Rather than have the old AMC revived, we would love for TCM to add a second channel.
It's not the commercials that are so terrible. It's the fact that AMC Movies simply doesn't show many classic movies anymore. How in the world does "Pinata: Survival Island (2002)" qualify as something that should be shown alongside any of the greats? They are showing complete contemporary garbage lately. We too saw with anger when thinking about what happened to AMC Movies.
The "AMC" of five, ten years ago is never coming back. The words which have been written on this issue in "TCM" nation about the displeasure of this turn of events will not do any good unless they are placed in the right forum, the “AMC Movies Forum". |

James Bond Movies
There is hardly any person across the globe who doesn’t know about James Bond Movies. Chances are that we all have heard about Sean Connery or Pierce Brosnan. Sean Connery casts a long shadow over the legacy of James Bond Movies. He created the movie persona and starred in six of the first seven features, all but establishing the cool cold warrior as the world's most suave secret agent. The six titles in MGM's third collection celebrate the Connery Bond with three of his classics, including From Russia with Love, 007's second and perhaps finest outing. A blond, buff Robert Shaw plays Bond's most ruthless nemesis, and Lotte Lenya and the great Pedro Armindáriz costar in this sleek, high-energy trip through the Iron Curtain.
Connery travels to the Far East in You Only Live Twice, which introduces the international criminal conspiracy SPECTRE and its cat-loving mastermind, Blofeld (Donald Pleasence). After a brief retirement, Connery returned for Diamonds Are Forever, his final "official" appearance in the Bond series (15 years later he played Bond for a rival studio's Never Say Never Again). This more tongue-in-cheek adventure takes 007 to Las Vegas, where he battles Blofeld (this time played by Charles Gray) and his minions--namely, a pair of fey, sardonic henchmen and a team of bikini-clad karate killers.
Octopussy, a colorful cold war thriller and one of Roger Moore's better Bond outings in James Bond Movies, stars Louis Jourdan as a corrupt Afghan prince and Maud Adams (making her second Bond appearance) as the ringmaster of an all-babe traveling circus team that unknowingly carries a nuclear bomb. Christopher Walken hams it up under a platinum-blond hairdo while his Amazon bodyguard, Grace Jones, growls through A View to a Kill, a silly but often visually impressive adventure that made it obvious Moore was too old and stiff to carry on the Bond legacy. The torch was passed to Timothy Dalton in The Living Daylights, an attempt to clear away the camp elements of Moore's portrayal and return to a lean, hard-edged spy thriller for the post-cold war era. It lacks the larger-than-life characters and spectacle of previous James Bond Movies, but Dalton was a tough, ruthless 007 and a worthy inheritor of the legacy, which was then passed on to Pierce Brosnan.
The DVD editions of the films each feature audio commentary by the director and key members of the crew, "making of" documentaries, and a host of stills, TV spots, trailers, and other supplements.
All the James Bond Movies are great, but don't get me wrong, some are better than others. Here is the order I would buy these James Bond Movies DVD's in if I were to buy them separate. The Living Daylights, Octopussy, From Russia With Love, You Only Live Twice, A View To A Kill, and Diamonds Are Forever. But this, of course is after I buy all the Brosnan James Bond Movies. Some people say the entire new ones suck. While some say all the old ones suck. While I say, all James Bond Movies are good. It's just that some are better than others. Another factor that affects my DVD buy is the special features. Some are better than others. The one with the best special features is Tomorrow Never Dies (Brosnan, 1997). Well, if you like Bond and are amazingly rich, pick up this box set OR just buy some of your favorites. If you hate Bond and James Bond Movies...Then why are you reading this? Whatever may be your reaction but one thing is sure that there is a great fan club when it comes to James Bond Movies.
